Topographical Surveys & Topographical Mapping

Topographic Surveys involve determining the relative locations of points on the earth's surface by measuring horizontal distances, differences in elevation and directions and can be used for producing topographic mapping, constructing cross sectional profiles, establishing vertical and horizontal control and the production of Digital Ground Models.

Prior to starting collection of data, a network of known horizontal and vertical control points are established.  This network of control then allows further measurements to be made from several different locations in the same coordinate system ensuring the resulting measurements fit together into a single reference system.

Infoterra Ltd employs both photogrammetric and land surveying techniques to carry out the required topographic mapping work in an efficient and reliable manner and has a wide experience in the application of this technology.

We provide Topographical Surveys for a wide variety of clients such as the Highways Agency and Engineering companies including Arup, Atkins, Parsons Brinkerhoff, Pell Frischmann and Scott Wilson. Recent projects include:

  • High accuracy road surveys in the UK and Southern Ireland
  • Structure surveys, bridges, dams, railway infrastructure
  • Railway surveys
  • Building and elevation surveys
  • Internal building surveys
  • Airport surveys
  • Coastal surveys
  • Boundary surveys
  • Cross sections, area and volume calculations
  • Drainage surveys

Our team of survey experts always ensure that our work is of high quality and meets the client expectations.

All our processing is completed in-house using the latest software technologies to ensure the most efficient processing methods are used.
