ESA Geology Project - Integrated EO & potential fields data for pre-seismic frontier exploration

Working in conjunction with AOA Geophysics, the product demonstrated in this study offers a GIS-based geological study of the onshore and offshore region of Newfoundland using ERS SAR and Potential Fields data for oil exploration.

The study combines the onshore and offshore surface interpretations of ERS SAR data with the sub-surface information derived from the potential fields data within a Geographical Information System (GIS).

The aim of the project is to demonstrate the value that EO data can add to the exploration of potentially high-risk frontier regions.

Onshore
Use EO data for structural mapping to support subsurface geological structures interpreted from Potential Fields data.

Offshore
Use EO data for slick screening for evidence of natural oil seeps from faults and hydrocarbon traps.
