Pléiades Launch Confirmed

launch date for Pléiades 1 on December 16th, 2011.

Astrium satellite imagery used for hurricane Irene

Astrium GEO-Information Services tasked its satellites to collect data over the USA in anticipation of hurricane Irene's arrival to the east coast. Over 100,000 km² of cloud-free SPOT optical imagery and more than 85,000km² of TerraSAR-X radar data were collected as of
Monday, Aug. 29 covering portions of the U.S. east coast from Charleston, SC to Maine and Vermont. Astrium will continue to collect imagery for disaster relief efforts over the next few days.
International Wins for SAFEcommand

The Astrium GEO Public Safety team received their first international contract on the 24th May 2011 for an Automatic Resource Location (ARL) Gateway for the Brigade des Sapeurs-
Pompiers de Paris (BSPP) which is a French Army unit that serves as the fire service for Paris and certain sites of French national strategic importance. This good news continued with another order on 27th June 2011 from Cassidan, who are working behind prime contractor Thales, for an ARL Gateway for Mexico City Police which will be used to track the real time locations of 25,000 police officers.

Astrium launches the GEOELEVATION product suite, a comprehensive range of models providing
accurate terrain height data. The GEO-Information division of Astrium Services is pleased to announce the launch of a new comprehensive offer of elevation data: the GEOELEVATION product suite. These elevation models are used for high-quality image orthorectification, multi-scale mapping, terrain knowledge, water body identification, flood modeling and 3D visualization.
Hong Kong Bypass Project

The tunnel forms part of the Wan Chai Bypass Project, a 4.5km a section of highway running
along the northern part of Hong Kong Island that will improve transport links in the region and reduce traffic congestion.
The GEO-Information Services division of Astrium Services will utilize data from the Astrium-built TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X radar satellites to provide surface movement information before and during the tunnelling process. This data is essential in order to ensure that the risks of tunnelling are reduced in what is a highly populated area, enabling project teams to understand the impact of the underground construction work on the site’s surface, surrounding buildings and infrastructure.
SPOTMAPS Australia - Ongoing updates and high location accuracy

Astrium GEO-Information Services is pleased to announce that SPOTMAPS Australia is being updated at the moment. More than 5 million square km² are already available in its second version, made with data majority acquired within the last two years. The updated Australian SPOTMAPS now include coverage of Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.
