International Wins for SAFEcommand

15 August 2011

The Astrium GEO Public Safety team received their first international contract on the 24th May 2011 for an Automatic Resource Location (ARL) Gateway for the Brigade des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Paris (BSPP) which is a French Army unit that serves as the fire service for Paris and certain sites of French national strategic importance. This good news continued with another order on 27th June 2011 from Cassidan, who are working behind prime contractor Thales, for an ARL Gateway for Mexico City Police which will be used to track the real time locations of 25,000 police officers.

These successes are based on close cooperation between Astrium GEO and Cassidian to build synergistic capabilities in the Public Safety global market place.

Cassidian Systems’ portfolio includes secure voice and data communications networks as well as Business applications for Public Safety and Homeland Security needs and they have successfully deployed approximately 180 worldwide including the largest TETRA network in the world in their on-going roll out to all of the emergency services in Germany.

Astrium’s SAFEcommand suite of products provides an excellent fit to these networks providing operational planning and response, mobile data and track trace capabilities. To support real-time communications and situational awareness SAFEcommand can simultaneously utilise a range of communications bearers including TETRA, TETRAPOL, Satellite, 3G/GPRS, WI/FI and also LAN/WAN infrastructure.

These first export contracts are significant wins for the Astrium GEO Public Safety team, which is based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the north east of England, and represents a great start of global export sales for the SAFEcommand product suite.
