Our unique capabilities
Our elevation data range relies on Astrium GEO-Information Services unique access to a multi-resolution and multi-sensor constellation.
TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X radar satellites acquire high-quality X-band radar images with an accuracy of down to 1 m independent of weather conditions and lighting. SPOT optical satellites imagery offers an optimum combination of resolution and coverage. Astrium also owns and operates airborne sensors, including LiDAR that provides the most cost-effective and accurate height data produced from airborne systems.
And the future looks promising: The TanDEM-X Mission will generate a global homogeneous Digital Elevation Model of unprecedented quality, accuracy, and coverage of the Earth’s entire land surface available by 2014. With five additional satellites within the next five years (SPOT 6 & 7, Pléiades constellation and TerraSAR-X-2) the continuity of these unparallel digital elevation modelling services is secured.
