Thermal Surveys
Infoterra designs, builds and operates digital and analogue thermal instruments. Our newest instrument is a digital line scanner, whereby the image is built up by the forward motion of the aircraft.
The digital instrument:
- Operates in the thermal infra-red part of the spectrum (8 - 14 microns)
- Has a 60-degree field of view
- At an altitude of 600m the instrument has a spatial resolution of approximately 0.7 metres and a swath of 530 metres
- The sensitivity of the instrument can be tailored to a particular application with an overall sensitivity of approx. 0.1K.
- Can be fixed wing or helicopter mounted
Both instruments measure relative temperatures. Commercial applications of such data include:
- The assessment of building heat loss
- Landfill site evaluation
- Transmission power line fault detection
- Pipeline monitoring for leak detection
- Oil slick and pollution monitoring
Thermal data can be supplied geo-located with conventional aerial photography or mapping.
