Height Data

Accurate height information is a powerful input to planning and modelling applications, such as; subsidence and flood risk modelling, telecommunications planning and noise mapping.

To help these applications succeed, we offer a comprehensive range of UK height information products from detailed lidar data with vertical accuracies of +/-15cm to countrywide elevation at +/- 1-2 metres. We also undertake custom surveys around the world.

Lidar Height Data

Lidar provides highly accurate elevation data of the ground surface plus structures, including buildings, vegetation and other assets, such as power lines.

Infoterra, a leader in the capture of lidar height data, has data "on-the-shelf" at 1 point per metre for over 100 British cities, and has started a 5-year data refresh programme to capture the industry’s highest resolution lidar height data. Data has already been captured for eight cities - Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham and Southampton - at 4 points per metre, with a higher resolution of 8 points per metre for the central business areas.

Infoterra has also acquired data for the central London business area - covering over 200 km² - at 12 points per metre.

3DCityLines

Accurate 3D vectors, including building outline data, is ideal for urban planning, such as the location for new mobile network towers and 3D city creation for modelling acoustic distribution.

Digital Terrain Model (DTM)

A terrain model is available for England & Wales at 5m resolution, derived from photogrammetry. A DTM can bring significant benefits for a variety of applications including flood modelling and road management.

Digital Surface Model (DSM)

A surface model is available for England & Wales at 2m resolution (derived from photogrammetry), with urban areas captured using lidar technology so available at a higher accuracy & resolution. Our DSM is the first elevation model to include building and vegetation heights.
