The Corporate Gazetteer stores mapping, addresses and other location information and incorporates tools to allow both manual and bulk data updates. These tools allow the best use to be made of national address sources and local knowledge. The Corporate Gazetteer ensures that clients are totally self-sufficient in terms of address and mapping data management, without the need for third party intervention.

The Corporate Gazetteer consists of 3 components

Stores mapping, addresses and other location information and incorporates tools to allow both manual updates and bulk data updates.

Gazetteer Search Engine - Address data searching
Intelligent search engine that provides Gazetteer search facilities to enable Control Room Operators to locate callers and incidents, with a sophisticated search engine allowing complex searches based on simple user input and specific facilities to support EISEC.

The Gazetteer Search Engine contains data matching intelligence that will always seek to find the best / fastest match for an entered address, partial address, EISEC/ALSEC string, or phonetic search. This includes searching any local name information as well as checking for user configured common abbreviations or misspellings.

The key to the Gazetteer Search Engine is to simplify the question for the "operator" as much as possible. The engine itself does much of the interpretive work and establishes the "best" part of the Gazetteer to look in and the "best" way to look in it.

Gazetteer API – 3rd Part Access to the Corporate Gazetteer
The Gazetteer Application Programming Interface (API) is a mechanism through which a BS7666 address gazetteer, such as Central Management System or Corporate Gazetteer may be accessed by third-party applications.

The Gazetteer API ensures that efficient use is made of data management personnel by removing the need to perform a single address update many times in various systems. Updates are performed once in a SAFEcommand gazetteer and then utilised directly by third-party applications.

The SAFEcommand Gazetteer Search Engine API provides the most direct external use of the Gazetteer data and is used for integration into Command & Control systems, etc.
