Case Study: Ulster Canal
Working for Waterways Ireland via JBA Consulting, Infoterra undertook the acquisition of simultaneous aerial photography and LiDAR data capture and survey control, for the production of orthophotos, long sections, cross sections, digital ground model and 3D building outlines for a 20km section for the restoration of the Ulster Canal.
The area of interest (AOI) for the survey is of the former canal alignment from Clones to Lough Erne which runs across the borders in Ireland.
The finalised project requirements included the provision of heighted 3D building outlines in critical zones adjacent to the existing canal and proposed canal restoration routes. Also, working with the client to ensure seamless merging of bathymetric mapping data for Lough Erne which had also been collected as part of the overall canal restoration study.
