Case Study Mineral Mapping
Mineral Exploration - Case Study: Cuprite, Nevada
Infoterra have developed a number of processing routines that allow us to map a range of minerals from ASTER data including:
- Iron Oxides
- Carbonates
- Silica
- Kaolinite
- Mica
- Alunite
The following examples from Cuprite, West-central Nevada, illustrates our satellite mineral processing methodology.
Solution 1: Mineral Analysis
- Image purchase and processing
- Geo-referencing
- Image enhancement
- Image mosaicing
- Mineral analysis
- Mineral abundance layer
- PowerPoint presentation highlighting key areas of interest
Solution 2: Mineral Analysis & Interpretation
As solution 1 including:
- Structural Interpretation of satellite imagery to examine structural controls on the location of the mineralization
- Lithological analysis for assessing the host rock of the mineralization
- Summary report
Both solutions can be enhanced by the generation of a 30 metre resolution DEM from the ASTER imagery allowing ortho-rectification of the imagery, 3D visualisation and advanced structural interpretation.
All our data is supplied “GIS ready” and can be easily integrated with clients existing datasets.
