Automatic Information Update Service

Regular distribution of operational information

The Automatic Information Update Service (AIUS) provides automatic routine and priority distribution of operational information ensuring the personnel in the mobile environment access the most accurate information available.

Using the AIUS, updates to information managed within CMS (Central Management System) can be distributed automatically on a configurable routine basis to in-vehicle Mobile Data Terminals, Fire Station PC’s, Fire Control, etc. Priority update facilities between routine updates are also available should the Service need to distribute specific information.

The AIUS is designed to suit the needs of the emergency responders. If an appliance is mobilised while it is being updated, the solution is intelligent enough to simply re-start the update process when the appliance returns to base, however long it has been away. A simple visual indication is given by the VMDS (Vehicle-Mounted Data System) to show whether it is able to carry out an update to ensure the crew park their vehicle in a suitable location.

This service can be used in a multi-tiered and local implementation. AIUS is designed to work with the full range of networking infrastructures typically available within Fire Services, ranging from full Wide Area and Local Area Networks using cable or wireless LAN facilities to none (in which case a laptop computer is used).

The AIUS has been designed to make best use of the facilities available, to allow a seamless move from one method to another or to allow a mixed approach to be used. The service can be made available on a site licence basis to facilitate this. It is also available for installation on laptop computer for where no network is available.
