Geo-Hazard Mapping
Infoterra's team use their geological image interpretation skills for geo-hazard and flood risk mapping.
Previous projects have included identifying neo-tectonic fault scarps re-activated by recent faulting or seismic events to aid the location of new infrastructure.
Larger scale projects have included the design and construction of an entire GIS so that maps of landslide hazard and flood risk could be produced. Projects like this rely on the extraction of a large amount of information from the base satellite image layer, which can then be combined with other information and modelled in order to produce risk zonation maps.
