Key dates include:
- 2007: Infoterra continues to be the main geospatial partner for the UK Government’s implementation of the EU Noise directive.
- 2007: Infoterra becomes Europe’s largest commercial, secure military map production company.
- 2006: Infoterra awarded Pan Government Agreement for aerial photography and height data supply to the entirety of the National Government.
- 2006: UKPerpsectives ( re-branded GeoPerspectives™) becomes main supplier to Google for imagery of England on Google Earth.
- 2006: The Infoterra Group was expanded – companies in France, Germany, Hungary and the UK.
- 2005: Infoterra developed www.GeoStore.com – buy online service.
- 2005: UKPerspectives (AJV) completes first national aerial photography coverage of England at 25cm.
- 2004: Infoterra invested £1.2m to develop the largest commercial geospatial hosting and archiving facility in Europe.
- 2004: Infoterra becomes partner of choice for IBM in delivering DEFRA’s IT outsourcing.
- 2003: TEDA TerraSAR Exploitation and Development Alliance initiated with European Space Agency.
- 2002 Infoterra awarded UK’s largest contract for hosting of geographic imagery by OS.
- 2002: Astrium and DLR (German Aerospace Center) decide to establish the commercial TerraSAR-X satellite.
- 2001: Infoterra Group founded: NRSC Ltd. becomes Infoterra Ltd., former Dornier subdivision Dornier Satellitensyteme becomes Infoterra GmbH.
- 2000: NRSC becomes 100% subsidiary of Astrium as Astrium becomes sole shareholder.
- 2000: Astrium is founded from German Dasa Space Activities and British/French Matra Marconi Space to become Europe’s leading space company.
- 1999/2000: InfoTerra/TerraSAR Definition Study shows potential for a profitable geo-information service business.
- 1998: ProSmart (Products for Smart) product development program started, involving numerous partners.
- 1998: Airborne Laserscanning International JV launched.
- 1998: UK PAC development contract won.
- 1997/98: Smart (Systematic Market and Development Approach for Remote Sensing Techniques) Initiative started; target: market-derived new quality EO-business concept (InfoTerra).
- 1997: NRSC acquires Air Reconnaissance and establishes digital airborne data capability.
- 1997: GCRS (Gulf Centre for Remote Sensing) joint venture established in Abu Dhabi.
- 1994: BAE Space Systems joins Matra Marconi Space.
- 1994: NRSC acquires Geonex UK and establishes aerial photography capability at the Geonex office in Barwell, Leicestershire.
- 1991: UK-PAF Inaugurated; NRSC Ltd. starts commercial trading. Main offices moved to their current location at Delta House in Farnborough.
- 1989: French Matra Espace and British Marconi Space Systems found Matra Marconi Space.
- 1989: Dornier joins Dasa Space activities.
- 1988: BAE wins contract to build UK-PAF for ERS-1, and to establish NRSC as a private commercial company.
- 1981: MBB and ERNO are brought together in Dasa Space Activities.
- 1980: DTI established NRSC. First offices were on the DERA site on Farnborough Airfield. NRSC was set up with a remit to bring remote sensing to the general public. Much of the time was spent touring schools and colleges with a "Remote Sensing Roadshow".
